The Giving Season Edition: 3 easy ways to help local animal shelters!

Tis the season of giving! The most important thing to remember during this time of year is that we can all give a little. Animals all over the country could use a little more love and we want to help you with some ideas for encouragement.

Uncle G’s Bed and Biscuit partners with a lab rescue to help out yearly, however we know there is always extra help needed as it gets colder outdoors for animals.

According to the ASPCA “Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.” That’s a lot of furry friends that need love!
Here are some ideas to help you decide how you’d like to positively impact our world for the lives of animals this season:

1. Donate money to animal shelters:

It’s important to find a shelter that you personally support. You can always search local shelters online to donate to.
If your having a hard time finding a preference, here are a few nationwide non-kill animal shelters you can donate to!

2. Donate time by helping out at local shelter:

Visit your local animal shelter and pitch in!
Helping hands are always needed to care for animals at a high volume. You may have to put in some elbow grease but all the work will be worth it.
You can do a simple google search for shelters close in location to you or a visit a few and then decide which one you’d like to volunteer at.

3. Donate items to community animal shelters:

If you can’t help financially or simply don’t have the time to spare to volunteer, don’t worry!
You surely can find some extra items laying around that could be put to better use. Shelters always need extra blankets, towels, beds, bowls and yes, even food! They don’t have to be in mint condition and those dogs and cats would greatly appreciate a full belly and a snuggly bed.
